What It Does

PDF Expert is a full-featured PDF editor and reader for macOS. Read, edit, annotate, fill forms, sign documents, combine files, split pages, and run OCR on scanned documents. All inside a native Mac app that uses M-series acceleration.

The feature list covers about 90% of what most people do with PDFs. The remaining 10% — advanced form creation, PDF/A compliance, accessibility tooling — is still Adobe's territory.

What It Actually Replaces

If you pay $25/month for Adobe Acrobat Pro ($300/year) just to edit PDFs and fill forms, PDF Expert replaces that entirely for $79.99 one-time. Break-even is just over three months.

If you use Preview.app (free, built into macOS) but keep hitting its limits — no text editing, no OCR, no page reordering — PDF Expert is the upgrade path. The question is whether you hit those limits often enough to justify $80.

Windows users: there is no PDF Expert for Windows. Foxit PDF Editor or Adobe Acrobat are the alternatives. This deal is Mac-only.

What Works

Native Mac app with Apple Silicon optimization. PDF Expert launches instantly, scrolls smoothly, and uses a fraction of the battery that Electron-based PDF tools consume. It feels like Apple built it.

Text editing inside PDFs works well. You can add paragraphs, fix typos, change numbers, and adjust fonts without the document looking like someone cut and pasted over the original.

OCR is genuinely useful. Scanned documents become searchable and selectable. For anyone dealing with paper-to-digital workflows, this alone can save hours.

Form filling and digital signatures are handled better than Preview.app. The signature capture is fast, and one-time signatures for client documents work without friction.

Readdle has been around since 2007 and has a long track record of maintaining their apps. This is not a two-person startup that will disappear next quarter.

What Does Not Work

Mac-only. No Windows, Linux, web, or mobile version included in this deal. If your workflow crosses platforms, you will need a second PDF tool.

The Dealify refund window is 30 days, not AppSumo's 60 days. That is still enough time to evaluate, but the margin for error is thinner. Test your critical PDF workflows in the first week.

No PDF-to-Excel or PDF-to-PPT export in this tier. The Dealify deal covers the standard PDF Expert license. The conversion features that exist (PDF to Word, PDF to text) work but do not match Adobe's export fidelity for complex layouts.

Heavy PDF creation — building forms from scratch, setting PDF/A compliance, adding accessibility tags — is still Adobe Acrobat territory. PDF Expert is for editing and reading existing PDFs, not authoring new ones.

Who Should Skip

Windows users. There is no Windows version. Look at Foxit PDF Editor or Nitro Pro instead.
